Canadian RCMP to develop own email system

thedigitaldoctor

The Canadian RCMP is planning on rolling out their own email system as the current one is failing and the replacement has been delayed for 2 years now.

In June 2013, Bell Canada won the contract to move 550,000 mailboxes from 63 email systems to a uniform email address ending with @canada.ca. The transformation promised to make the email system more secure, efficient and easier for Canadians to access while saving $50 million a year.

Lol seriously.  I prepare a lot of proposals for government contracts and they can be very frustrating.  The government couldn't find a good deal to save it's life.  It's not even the low bidder.  It's the bidder who most efficiently jumps through the long winded/arbitrary hoops to score the most points.

Bell Canada, screwing people including the government since 1880.

That would be called a tender to an RFP with a weighted scoring system deciding the winner. Pretty standard.

Pretty standard, and also pretty terrible.
