Ram OC Issue w/ 4x8gb 3200 (Ryzen 7 / Gigabyte AB350 / LPX / F8) (SOLVED)

Hello.

Setup: Ryzen 7 / Gigabye AB350 Gaming 3 / 4x8 GB Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz C16 – (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16)

Even with the new F8 Bios update i cant OC my rams over 2400 Mhz. Can anybody send me some info how to or has anybody experience the same problem. is it even possible to overclock 4 sticks at this board yet?

I really want to get this higher then 2400. Please any help.

Thanks a million.

4 sticks - bad

mobo of questionable (At least VRMwise) quality - bad

SK Hynix - not really good

conclusion: use only 2 sticks or get better mobo and hope for luck

Have you looked in the mobo manual? I'm pretty sure it will say in there that if four slots are populated it will only use upto 2400.

No, 2x 16 will not work either, because they are dual rank- double sided. AMD didn't expect anyone to use such amounts of ram because its mainstream, not HEDT

2X 16GB should work fine..

This is what I was referring to, on my mobo anyway so I imagined was same for other B350 boards, but might not... I looked in the spec and manual for your mobo and couldn't find anywhere that said anything similar, so I would check with gigabyte before making any changes.

Ryzen Series CPUs:

UDIMM Memory Slot Frequency(MHZ)
A1 A2 B1 B2
- SR - - 2667
- DR - - 2667
- SR - SR 2667
- DR - DR 2400-2667
SR SR SR SR 2133-2400
SR/DR DR SR/DR DR 1866-2133

So, as you can see when using 4 dimms in the table above, it can only get upto 2400... whereas 2 slots can get higher frequencies... but that could be bullshit AFAIK. If I had some more modules here I would test that out.

Mine are dual rank and they work fine... what you're referring to I think is when people were havign problems getting the RAM frequency higher with DR dimms, that got fixed mostly in the AGESA BIOS updates. I have my DR dimms OC'ed to 3066Mhz as soon as the BIOS updates came out, haven't tried higher yet... mine are rated for 3000Mhz by the way.

Not sure what you're trying to say there really?

By the way, noticed in your sig, you are only runnign your ram at 2933... you should be able to get that up nearer 3200 now, and possibly beyond. My ram is corsair vengeance 3000Mhz and OCs more than rated, so yours should too unless they are using different chips or something... worth a look anyway, just save your profile as it is, try to OC the ram some more, if it doesn't work or you get BSOD etc, just reset CMOS and load in your profile again.

I know, i have TG case and removing the glass is painful, so i am waiting when i will be 100% sure to perform the OC and wont have to take the PC apart
