20W speakers with 60W amp?

Brennan Price

Hello there,

I just want to ask: Is it alright to use 20W speakers with a 60W amp?

My speakers are two bookshelf B&O Beovox 1001 speakers and the amp I have just bought (because it is retro and will go well with my speakers) is an Akai AM-M11. I have read forums elsewhere that an amp that can drive more excess power to the speakers is much better than having an amp that perhaps only has half the power output needed, so should I be alright if I don't turn it up too loud? I needed to buy a new amp since my current 20W amp is on the way out.

I usually listen to my music quite loud but not enough to constantly feel vibrations through the floor (sorry to be so vague).

Final question, my speakers have an impedance rating of 4 OHM's but the amp is rated at 6-16 OHM's. Will it be alright??... Or should I buy new speakers also??

Thanks.

Pretty sure this is all fine. I run a 50W amp but my speakers can also probably handle that, but I generally don't end up going much above 5W, that's loud enough for me

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

just connect it if they blow up you will be sure that you need new ones (big chance they just work)

ask me about your system builds, AIO's, CPU's, PSU's, and GPU's.
