Unremovable android virus

dnf
Go to solution Solved by dnf,

I have solved it after digging through system files. its an adups.fota virus.

follow this to remove: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/test-for-adups-spyware-your-phone-disable-0175034/

So my fkn retarded brother found the play store on my tablet... and he downloaded some shit. i deleted it and thought i was fine, but randomly pop ups started appearing and if you close the it starts downloading random apps. I have installed Malwarebytes and scanned, it found something but couldn't remove it. I looked for the file with Root Browser but could not find it. Also when opening a new tab in chrome it goes to some random "search website" something like 166814.com or something similar.

I've tried factory reseting, but the popups stay.

If a factory reset doesn't solve it, you'll need to flash it completely.  Either with a stock ROM or a custom one.

Before you do that though : Check the "my apps" tab in the play store (assuming it's still called that) to make sure the one with the virus isn't installed again by default when you link the tablet to your Google account.

Well since my previous comment was "cleaned," I still recommend looking into utilities that can completely remove the Android Operating System if such utilities exist.

A Factory Reset still keeps the OS on the phone and that is why I think it is not fixing the issue. You must remove and reinstall the Android operating system.
