Vega 56 PSU Wattage Recommendation

Go to solution Solved by loculus,

If it's a G550M, that's a good model from a few years ago. If it's a GX550 CM Storm, I think that's decent. Some of the older GX550 / GX550 II might be worse but it would probably still handle the build with a Vega 56 unless you have a highly overclocked HEDT CPU. The newer MWE Bronze 550 should be fine though probably not as good as the G550M.

What will happen if I undervolt it?

You have to do that because vega stock voltage is too high.

I would advise getting the RM650x, the G550M seems like cheap shit to me, id rather get expensive and futureproof PSU

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

No. What I'm saying is that not overclocking can avoid the PSU from working hard, preventing accidents. PSU do degrade over time, faster with cheap parts, so it's still better to change it out, but it's not urgent.

Undervolt reduces power draw and after a certain level, stability. That's why you shouldnt undervolt too much.
