To mine or not to mine?

I just ordered new computer parts from Amazon: Ryzen 1700, GTX 1080, 16GB ram, some itx mobo and an itx case. I wanted a small PC for easy transportation when I move to university next month. At university I won't be using my computer most of the time and electricity is free, so the question is, should I mine? I could have it running for 20(?) hours a day. Don't know much about mining.

If you have free power and a GPU you don't care about, sure, why not?

It will push your CPU and GPU to 100% and sit it there until you tell it to stop.  But, you can tune it to the level you want with MSI afterburner and some settings in the folding client.

If your GPU is running right near the thermal threshold 24/7 (and mining in an ITX case it will be), yes, you could eventually start to degrade the card's performance. You won't fry it unless you're doing something really dumb, but you will take life off of it.

These are the 2 ways I know of.  There are probably more.

Out of the two curecoin is the only one really worth anything.

Super easy to get too.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. How much is 'really worth anything'? More than etherum mining?

no. not that much. Biggest plus is that it gets you into folding which is arguably better than mining.

curecoin: $0.25 https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/curecoin/

zcash: $242.94 https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/zcash/

etherum: $331.10 https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/
