Hooking up a 1080ti

I just purchased a 1080ti and it has 2 8 pin connectors. Do I run 2 individual 8 pins from the psu or do I run 1 and use the splitter? Thank you

The card comes with a splitter that goes from 1 8 pin to 2 8 ping

Run two it can sometimes lead to better stability in overclocking

densest matter. the splitter is if you only have one pcie power connector do what looks better. if both can reach from the psu it will probably be more visual pleasing to not have an extra cord hanging

and lower amperage load on the 8-pin PCIe connectors. They can only handle so much before you blow them out (like spiking up to 40+ amps going through one 8-pin connector, or sustaining 25-30 amps continuously), even though the math says that you can safely run those "pigtail" 6+2 PCIe connectors (300W max).

 

OP I recommend you run two individual 8-pin PCIe connectors.

You should only use that in case the PSU is lacking the 2 pci-e 8pin, and if your PSU did only have 1 you still probably shouldn't use it with a 1080ti.
