Difference between the evga sc2 and ftw2.

Xxetro
Go to solution Solved by Mira Yurizaki,

The SC2 is basically a stock board that's factory overclocked. The FTW has more components on it than stock to allow potentially better overclocking. So if you're not going to bother with overclocking, get the SC2 since the performance of either card out of the box isn't significant enough.

Anyone know what the difference between the two cards are? The 1080 varient if that matters.

FTW2 has higher quality components and such with better cooling performance than the SC2 but in most situations it won't matter too much

So you think I should just save my cash and go for the sc2? I not going to overclock so I don't need the 2 8 pins.

graphics card overclocking is pretty much mandatory due to how easy and simple it is to do nowadays. hoever, if you're not pushing the limit then a single 8 pin will do for a 1070/1080

FTW2 has better cooling, higher factory oc, another 8 pin, better vrms, etc. It doesn't matter that much though unless you're going for dice or ln2 OCing or noise matters a super crap ton lot to you. It's unlikely you'll see significantly higher performance on the ftw2.

So the ftw2 has slightly faster clock rate and bigger fans? Is that all?

And better vrms but that's about it.

Are the temperature differences big enough for buying the ftw2 over sc2?

Much more intesting than Cranking up the Clock speed, is Undervolting tho...

Why increase the Power consumption by 50%, just for 2% more fps, that you will never ever notice anywhere?^^

BUt yea. FTW has a bigger Cooler, thus better Cooling performance.

If you "need" that.. idk.

But you can get rid of a LOT of heat, if you use Undervolting.

You should be able to undervolt AND overclock at the same time, and have less heat, than at Stock, while still having more performance.

Probably not

You can't adjust voltage on Pascal without hard mods I think. Maybe with a custom bios but not sure about that.

You can, press CTRL + F^^

Curve Editor.

Small baby-introduction how to use it:

Let's say, you want 1900 Mhz on 0.9 volt.

Step 1: You move your Mouse to the Dot, that connects to 0.9 Volt.Hold the Mouse button, hold shift (to draw the whole Curve up as it is). Draw the 0.9 Volt dot (and EVERY else) to that Clock, you want it to be. For example, 1900 Mhz.

Step 2: Take ALL the Dots right from it (HIGHER than 0.9 Volt), and pull them BELOW that Clock sped. Anything less than 1900 Mhz in that Example.

After you pres Apply, the Curve will look normal up to 0.9V / 1900 Mhz, and above that, it will be a Horizontal Curve.

That means, the Card will NEVER go above 0.9 Volt, because every other Dot does NOT have a higher Clock speed. 0.9 Volt has the highest Clock sped of the whole Curve --> it will be the highest point.

Step 3: Check if that is stable. If yes, save it or optimize. If no, load stock again, and repeat from Step 1. But this time, you don't move the point to 1900 Mhz, but maybe 1875~. Try out. ^^
