I would really recommend a laptop with an SSD and 16GB RAM.

If that means going with a 1050Ti laptop then i'd accept that trade off.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Oneplus 6 (Early 2023 to present) | HP Envy 15" x360 R7 5700U (Mid 2021 to present) | Steam Deck (Late 2022 to present)

Mid 2023 AlTech Desktop Refresh - AMD R7 5800X (Mid 2023), XFX Radeon RX 6700XT MBA (Mid 2021), MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon (Early 2018), 32GB DDR4-3200 (16GB x2) (Mid 2022

You can upgrade the Y720 to an SSD and add additional memory.

Honestly, I'd trade those for a better GPU as long as I can upgrade those in the near future. You can always either swap the HDD for a 2.5" SATA SSD and/or an M.2 SSD either based on PCI-e or SATA and add additional RAM when necessary. You can't upgrade the GPU on most laptops.

And OP, unless you can find something better for the same price, just go with the Y720 and upgrade the storage and RAM at a later date. The GTX 1060 is a very powerful GPU for 1080p gaming on most recent AAA titles and is a good fit for a laptop like the Y720.

I didn't think that the laptop had upgrade able SSD or RAM. If that's the case then perhaps OP could look at the 1060 6GB model or look at an equivalent model from another vendor.

Damn. That's a fast one.

See if you can find an equivalent for not much difference in price. That Clevo looks like a good offering but it only has a 120GB SSD. You can opt for a model that has a hard drive included as a secondary drive or put a drive in yourself.

You can find some on a deal.

The aforementioned Y720 was $1000 only a few hours ago.
