Raidmax Good?

I'm in the market for a new PSU and I see Raidmax popping up and they seem very well priced for someone on a budget.

PCPP lists some alright reviews for this particular PSU. It's not Full Modular, which is a drawback but other than that looks reliable. At least it isn't from SHAW or some dodgy chinese company.

Or get a CX450 (2017) or CX450M gray label (or 550W version if you want).

Raidmax psus often lack quality control. The product will likely break quickly possibly taking some components with it, or be absolutely fine.

I see that it has a 6 pin and an 8 pin power connector. I think my 960 is a 4 pin power connector though so I wouldn't be able to SLI.

for SLI 960s 450W isn't enough, I think 600+W. I still recommend a S12ii, not sure about power connectors though.

Though I did miss the part about SLI as well as the OC on the CPU, 450W I believe is enough still, but he can get 550W if he wants.

If you're looking for recommendations around your range a B3 or CXM grey sticker might be a good choice. I think you can get a rm550x for around $60 right now, which is a really good deal, though it needs a MIR

The S12ii is not a power supply you want to push to higher loads. Take it past 300W and it starts getting really loud. It's also inferior in every way to the two PSUs I listed.

Why Do I get so much back lash for suggesting EVGA psus on here? They really are decent for the money.

Only some. Not all.

 

You get backlash because you recommend bad evga PSUs. Evga makes plenty of good PSUs, like the g2/G3, b2/B3, etc. But they also make plenty of horrible ones like the N1, W1, and whatnot. And they make some meh mediocre PSUs like the b1 and the BQ you linked.

 

For the price of the BQ you could get something like a CX550m which is much better.

1. Please do not SLI 960s. You'd be better off selling your 960 and buying a used 1080 instead of SLIing two not particularly great cards and dealing with SLI issues and whatnot. SLI 960s would use about as much power as a 1080 as well.

 

2. Raidmax is not good as many have pointed out.

 

3. An EVGA 550W B3 or Corsair CX550M would be a good buy for you for one card.

I definitely don't have the budget for a 1080. I was thinking honestly of going to get a 1050 ti. Double the vram and in my price range. And thanks for the PSU recommendations. I typically buy EVGA or Corsair to begin with. I think I'll just save up a little more.

I had a 500 watt Raidmax power supplie. I did not have any issues when it. I don't know if it's going to be the same quality though.

get a used 980, usually can be had around or under $200-ish. Otherwise save up and wait for RX 580s to drop (if they ever will in the next year) or save for a 1060 6GB.
