my i5 7600 isnt a quad core?

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

WIN+R -> "msconfig" -> Boot tab -> Advanced options -> make sure "Number of processors" is unchecked.

ok so i just upgraded my pentium g4400 to an i5 7600 which is suppost to have 4 cores and 4 threads but when i look at it in cpuz it has the correct clockspeed but it says i only have 2 core's and 2 thread's like the pentium. it wasn't a glitch with cpuz because i bench marked gta 5 and it stuttered like it was running on the pentium at 80 fps if anyone knows whats wrong and how to fix it please help, btw when i look at the uefi bios it says on physical cores it says "ALL" so its not that.

Maybe try resetting windows as well because you got a new CPU which could even help performance even with all four cores.

you got the wrong cpu because of some RMA fraud.

it should say i5- 7600 on the chip

Yes but the RMA  fraud that happened recently used a Celeron or Pentium and wrote the model cpu they were try to pass as on the chip.

Check to see if CPU cores are disabled in the BIOS. If you had a dual core in that board before it's possible that it's not setup to run with all 4 cores enabled.

Here is an easy way to tell. Geekbench it. Send the score. If it is a 4 core, it should have roughly twice the value as a two core.

Geekbench 4 score should be (roughly) 4000 single core, 15,000 multi core
