Building a VIDEO EDIT PC with $1200 budget

sashetoco

Hello, friends.
I have a huge dilemma now.
I am building a new PC for video editing in 4K resolution. (60FPS)
Rendering time, live preview with less pre-rendering, most of the time I am using Sony Vegas and After Effect.
I have been searching over 3 months to get the best info for this, build.
Please share with me your experience and opinion about it.
My last components i have thinking about are:

AMD RYZEN 7 1700X
GTX 1070 8GB (i am not really sure which one GB, GF, EVGA or ?)

16GB RAM (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz, Corsair Vengeance

ASRock AB350 Pro4
Fortron Hyper M 700, 700W, 85+
CoolerMaster MasterLiquid Pro 120

Please help me.

To choose the right ones for me.

THANK YOU!!!

I have basically the same system as you: 1700x, EVGA 1070 FTW, 16gb g skill flarex, and crosshair vi hero. I have basically everything overclocked, and it has crushed everything I have been able to throw at it. Granted, I do more programming and 3D modelling than video editing. My 1700x can reach 4.025GHz on a custom loop, so you should be able to easily get 3.9GHz. Although I would upgrade to a 240mm AIO if you plan on overclocking. Also maybe look for a different brand (I've had pretty bad experience with cooler master stuff in the past, and they seem to do alot of advertising. in my experience, decent products aren't advertised.) Don't get me wrong though, if they make good AIOs, go with it.

I would recommend EVGA graphics card, my FTW edition 1070 is a great card, with good power delivery, and quiet, effective cooling but does look very overstated, if that's not your thing, look for a gigabyte wind force card. They are a bit more toned down.

I would get 32GB memory for video editing. If budget is an issue, only get 2666MHz. If you buy decent memory, you could probably OC it a bit further. I have 3200MHz memory running at 3466MHz.

B350 motherboard is a solid choice. However maybe look for an EVGA or corsair PSU. I have never heard of Fortron before, so don't know if they are any good. (If they are decent, by all means go with it). 650-700w from a reputable brand is probably about right for this build. My system (overclocked) at full load draws at absolute max 400w.

Ryzen 7 1700x (4.05GHz)

EVGA GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0

16GB G. Skill Flare X 3466MHz CL14

Crosshair VI Hero

EK Supremacy Evo

EVGA SuperNova 850 G2

Intel 540s 240GB, Intel 520 240GB + WD Black 500GB

Corsair Crystal Series 460x

Asus Strix Soar

Laptop:

Dell E6430s

1700 is more than enough, get that and save some money. If you have a microcenter you can get it for cheap and over clock it.

My 1700 w/ stock cooler runs at 4ghz

Jeez, you won the silicon lottery. What voltage and temps are you using/getting?

But yes, a 1700 would be fine if overclocked.

W/ my dark base pro 900 case it runs at a solid 70-80 c with load and 60 c w/ light loads

going to get a new cooler for it the kraken x62 and see where it goes, I might be able to get it to 4.5 oc or a little higher since of my case, cooling, and psu

So what was that about the stock cooler? Also, what voltages are you using?

My chip runs at 60 C on a custom loop at full load with 1.41v. Around 4/4.1GHz is where you hit a voltage wall with ryzen, according to overclocking guides and my experience.

I seriously doubt you will be able to get a 4.5GHz OC with reasonable voltages and temps, and not utterly extravagant cooling. But if you manage it, let me know.
