The 1700 overclocks just as high, but it cheaper. The main advantages of the X series; XFR and higher clocks, are negated when you manually OC.

Ryzen doesn't play nice with more than 2 sticks though, so a 2x8GB kit is best for high RAM speeds (and @stealth80 proved RAM speed makes a massive difference).

your vga overkill to 1080p monitor

and if you want full slot get the 8gigs or 16gigs

so you dont waste so much slot to small size

everyone loves big ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

what about the 7700k build?

i was talking about 7700k build

and 1800x seems ok but better choose 1700 for lower price 0.1ghz performance differences

you need to lower your gpu or up your monitor

  • Why not the 1600? I haven't seen any comparisons but I don't think the 8 core is really that beneficial for gaming.
  • No SSD? Sin.
  • Your motherboard is overkill.
  • Ryzen likes 2 sticks, not 4. 3200mhz+.
  • Why such a small monitor? The 1080 would suffice for that.

good bios mobo seems good

not overkill if he used for OC or upgrade ability for "something"

1600 is best value and he wants high end, so 1700 is best value for high end

rest i agree with you

Except you can OC on any Ryzen board, and there's no upgrade that a higher end motherboard supports and others don't.

If he doesn't make use of the extra cores, it's a waste of money.
