Well why don't you try it and tell us the result? (kidding)

Most probably it'll work but your PSU might get damaged after a while.

if you had the money to buy a 1080ti - please buy a decent 80+ psu that has proper connectors too.

 

i once tried it on a friends pc with a R9 280x and psu cable just burnt in a sec. so not safe...
