Picking a new car

scobie56

So i need a 7 seat car and ive narrowed it down to these two and just want someones opinion, either the Audi Q7 s-line or a Ford S max sport

the ford is newer and slightly higher tech but the audi is a 3l, quattro (4x4)

Audi - http://www.srmotorgroup.co.uk/used-car/audi/q7/3-0-tdi-s-line-tiptronic-quattro-5dr/for-sale-in-swindon-wiltshire/aetv37340454/

Ford - http://www.assuredcarsales.co.uk/used-ford-s-max-swindon-wiltshire-1259524

My speakers dont even fit on or under my desk...PA's FTW

The Smax is probably the better choice. The Audi is a ticking time bomb of expense, it's more complicated than the Ford and the parts are more expensive, neither have a great reputation for reliability. Flip side the Audi will depreciate more slowly.

I'd say the Audi depreciates more and faster.

At 10 years, and nearly 100000 miles, the Audi has already done a huge chunk of it depreciation. Yes you'd loose more from new versus the Smax, though probably not in percentage terms, but between those two cars I reckon the Audi would hold it's value better. Of course the Audi will have higher maintenance costs so unless you are unlucky with a major mechanical failure the Smax will still be cheaper to own.

Diesel and old direct injection engines are no problem in the UK?

I'd have to go with the Ford. Wouldn't the Audi be a real bitch to maneuver around narrow UK streets?

Audi's are usually pretty reliable. I imagine the diesel variants are only more so.

aha i think your gonna loose your wallet on the audi that thing is at its mid life point in milage and allot of service things come up and it will cost probably half the price of the car to get them done, id go with the ford and save your wallet from the hiked up price for audi technician repairs
