7600K or 7700K to pair with gtx 1060 6gb

why spend, what is it? 230$ right now for a 1060? and just save up now and use the iGPU of the 7700k and then you have 230$ less to spend, and 230$ already saved up for the 1080 TI. volta/vega are coming out soon i think (or whatever they are going to release) and prices will drop, so you never know. we might see a 1080 price drop from the 700$ to 500$, and the 1080 TI might do the same thing. so then you arnt trying to save another 500-700$ and just have to save 200-400$ instead. save money

Lol if you can find a 1060 6GB for $230 I'll buy it

They are at least like $280-300 right now and even normally are at least $250.

After launch RX480 4GBs could be had for $140! Now THAT's a deal

knowing nvidia that should be out by christmas!?

Doubt it. Vega will likely only compete with the 1080 so nVidia will spend extra time milking the 10-series.

Wow this thread just went downhill.

OP just be happy with a 7600K, 7600k is just as capable as a 7700k in gaming even when both are overclocked. Sure a ryzen 1600 would be better, but for pure gaming the i5 7600K is just as good as Ryzen.

not really... also look at the minimums, it's much better than it was at launch, i5s are not worth it anymore, games are using more resources.

Not true actually. Yeah the i5s get 2 more FPS on average, but the minimums suck. Ryzen 5 is MUCH better than i5

i dont get minimums, if the avg are better then everything else is better. There is no such thing as a better cpu that will get outperformed by a worse cpu in a millisecond task or somethin'

not being offensive to anyone but if you recommend an i5 you need to reevaluate your life, its either a ryzen 1600 or a 7700k, 7700k being better for gaming.

TL;DR

Intel --> 7700K

If you are willing to at least sell the Z270 mobo --> R5 1600 or maybe R7 1700 for better mins and similar averages to i5 and much better future usage than i7.

Kaby lake and future shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

If you get 60fps average but dips into 5fps that's a much worse experience than a 55fps average and dips only to 45fps.

Not true, the i7 is much better than the i5 in games. Newer games can use 8 threads. ;)

OP- Since you don't like Ryzen, get the 7700K. Don't get the 7600K, especially if you care about "futureproofing"

Minimums are just as important. Bad minimums mean that the game stutters and isn't smooth. Smoothness is just as important as FPS.

thats not the point, a ryzen 1600 is cheaper than any i5 and is much better. i5s are now pegged at 100% usage in a lot of games.
