The middle drive (disc 1) doesn't show up in file explorer

It might not be formatted to NTFS. If it is an empty drive then just right click and format as ntfs. If it isn't empty then it might be slightly harder

File explorer could be set to hide empty drives.

You need to format it (right click on it and hit Format)

what options does it give you?

Click that. You need to basically create a partition for the drive to work in windows. 

 

Leave the size of the drive to it's max 931GB,

use NTFS, select whatever drive letter you want, Name it something (I usually name mine Storage or something, if you have a specific use case for it like it's only going to be used for games, You could call it Game Library)

I believe thats it. After you hit next it should create it, and in a minute Windows explorer will see the drive
