There isn't one. It just depends on what you want to do and what your requirements are.

 

For example, OSX is a great OS if you want to edit videos with Final Cut Pro and have other devices that mesh into the OSX/iOS ecosystem, but it's terrible if you want a system to host an AD server.

Windows 10 is the best.  If you like the Apple tools then you might want to go with OS X (Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro X).  The apple tools are also really well done performance wise and will even run nicely on old machines and laptops with only integrated graphics.

no OS is the best. They ass suck in there own special way. You must decide which one sucks less for your use. Figure out what you will be doing most on your PC and then pick which OS performs best in that act.

Ok, here we go. There is not one single "best" operating system. That would be a Christmas miracle that's not likely to ever happen. Each operating system in existence is designed to do a certain task (or set of tasks) better than others. Each one has it's one quirks and short-comings, but they also have great features you can't find elsewhere. Would you run MacOS Sierra on a server (looking past hardware restrictions) that is used by a multi-billion dollar business for day-to-day work? No. That's a stupid idea. With an operating system, you look for what suits your needs and what you think will perform your required tasks the best. You may have to narrow your search with regards to hardware limitations that may have been imposed artificially or due to age (or something else), such as the lack of security updates for Microsoft's Windows 7 and 8 (.1) operating systems on AMD's Ryzen processors. For all of these reasons, there is no single "best operating system". You have to look at what task you have and how you are going to accomplish that task.

Like others have said, there isn't one. macOS is awesome for a lot of things, but sucks at others. Same with Windows, Linux, other UNIX operating systems, etc. If you tell us what you want to do, we can tell you which is best (spoiler: if it has anything to do with gaming, Windows is the best).

stupid question from a fanboy most likely. I triple boot OSX, Mint and Windows 10 on an MBP15, and use all 3 almost every day. OSX is shiny but stupid, Windows is smart but tries to be too smart, Linux does everything but..... It's linux

You should create a poll of what you "think" the best options for OS FOR YOU would be. State what your use case is and then we can help you more.

That is so true. I use all three on many computers every day, and Linux is great, but it can be weird at times, MacOS is just odd, but it looks good, and Windows, well, thankfully it at least works, at least most of the time.

OSX is like a sexy blonde, she's fun and shit, but then you realize she's a fucking idiot and she's been stealing your money.

Windows is like your Dad, he's fun most of the time, and likes to be "down with the kids", but sometimes goes into an irrecoverable coma.

Linux is the Sysadmin at work, the one that smells funny and has no social skills, but has never failed to fix any of your computer problems, and for that you eternally love him.

hahahaha i know the type, i have a guy at work who is very very smart, but has no sense of urgency. Let's say i have to send out a machine in 10 minutes on a job. It is riddled with viruses and has porn on the desktop. Obviously i want to stick it on the WDS and just reimage it in 5 minutes, but no he wants to boot linux on it and get supercomplicated with his sudos

I'd have a lot of trouble doing what I need to do on anything other than Windows, and I generally like Windows 10 better than previous versions. So, I guess, Windows 10 is best for me.
