Cheapest X99 CPU

I'm looking to get a nice X99 mobo for cheap, no garuntees it will work though.  I'd like to try it out with a cheap CPU  before investing in anything better, budget of $40ish.

 

Don't care if its functionally garbage, just needs  to be capable of booting.

Not possible, I checked pcpp for cheapest 2011-3 cpu and even a used e5 2603 starts at 170 CAD before shipping, not sure if Kjiji would even have those

CPU, I'm thinking that an engineering sample may do the trick.

You'll have a higher chance of finding a needle in a haystack than finding a 2011-3 cpu for $40 Canadian bucks.

Yeah, looks like 80 is minimum.  I guess I'll throw the extra 40 for an old engineering sample

So you're looking at Craigslist canada? cheapest on ebay canada is $131. 80+40 is only 120. You're short by 11 dollars.

And $20 for a X99 mobo?!

Is the mobo made by RED by any chance?

Not technically, but that doesnt stop people from doing it (Intel isnt going to care if its that old).

I may use the mobo as a wall deco and get a 5620k when they go sub 150 CAD...  Seems like such a waste to put nearly 100 into checking if it works >:/

buy a 1080ti cuz the 2011 3 has no igpu so u need a gpu to see if it posts
