Atari’s new Ataribox console

Are there even any good 2600 games besides Hero, Pitfall, and Breakout that aren't crap arcade ports that can be played way better on MAME? Yeah that thing is not going to do well up against the SNES Classic that's filled with a pretty sizeable fraction of the greatest 2D games ever made.

Why does it not surprise me that Atari is still stuck on 80's decor?

Pretty sure you could buy what's left of the empty husk that is now Atari for less than 10million.

id be amazed if even a single person at 'Atari' was there in the days of old.

I think this may be the real deal due to one thing the news has missed: the ethernet port. In what world is this needed on an android box or emulator box. This seems more like a system that'll have in between 7th and 8th gen specs and have the ability to play old titles.

Updated the OP. Looks like the console will be a crowdfunding project. RIP

I originally saw this in a NCIX Tech Tips video. I also found more info on polygon (https://www.polygon.com/e3/2017/6/16/15821856/atari-ataribox-new-console). Apparently the new console (the Ataribox) will be able to play old video games from their previous generation consoles and play new content as well. Think about this, the last time they released a console was in 1993. That is some pretty crazy stuff right there. Of course it will have a wood veneer, a white Atari logo (as polygon points out, it glows like an old CRT), and it is based on real PC hardware like all the previous generation consoles. This is pretty crazy that this is happening. My personal hopes is that it will be able to use the original controllers with the old games, and that it doesn't need emulation to run them. No news on actual specs. I will keep posting with more info when it comes out.

SD card slot sounds nice and all, BUT WHERE'S THE CARTRIDGE PORT? D:

I need my fix of cartridge blowing!

Yes!!! I gotta get our SNES up and running (I think we're missing the display cable). We still have a SEGA Genesis that works. I think, may be missing something for that too. And it doesn't have Mario, so meh.
