How hard is it to replace the screen on a laptop.

I found a Dell latitude e6230 on Craigslist with a broken screen and was curious how hard it was to replace a screen on a Dell latitude. Thank you :)

if you can actually find the replacement screen, you can usually swap them out fairly okay-ly. depending on the laptop it can take time, but the hardest part is finding the replacement screen.

No idea about this one in particular, but most of them are easy, but time-consuming.

If you haven't done screen replacement before but the laptop isn't too expensive, I'd give it a try.  My old laptop (can't remember model) wasn't too hard to do ( ~1 hour). The number one thing to do is take your time and be careful. I picked up a phone and a laptop yesterday for free after somebody tried to do screen repairs on them both - and failed... badly...

Thank you! It's a $10 laptop and a $10 screen, so not much to lose eh?

I'd go for it. As long as you don't snap anything, you should be good. I'd take the chance to clean it out while you've got it open as well.

after the bezel its 4 or so screws then you disconnect the ribbon. after that place the new one in use the same screws and plug the ribbon back in. put bezel back on and look in device manager if it shows everything correctly.  I've done some they are easy but they can break very easily wile the repair is going on.  I recommend placing the new screen on a blanket or piece of foam wile you take the old one out.

Is it possible to use a different screen with the laptop? Like how do I check if they are compatible?

I doubt you can, unless they are from the same lineup and use the same connector and controller.
