GTX 1080 TI - Temp limit issue

zzz123

Give it to me and get a new one? Or else, just try turning the power target and temp sliders up all the way, and see if it remembers that or resets itself.

Yeah, defo use a GPU utility to monitor temps, not a benchmark. EVGA Precision X has a nicer OSD than Afterburner, though Afterburner has lots of skins and is easier to use. Just make sure not to run both at the same time.

Hi. I am getting weird issue with my 1080 TI FE. Stock fan settings, default curve,no oc. No programs installed like Afterburner or PRecision. Only gpuz, fraps.

My card sometimes forget about thermal throttling on load. Temps go high as 84-85C but no clock throttling. GPUZ showing only Power Limit. Any ideas?

so what are you saying? that your gpu doesnt throttle when reaching high temps? thats a good thing, not a bad thing.

well its good in the sense you wont lose performance, but bad in the sense its likely to get hotter.

GPUZ using

Are you using the latest version? I would install Afterburner, it's better for monitoring your GPU

It could be a bug, update GPU-Z to the latest version ;)

it seems like sometimes the card's going to 60% fan well before it hits thermal limit allowing higher clocks yet usually is unwilling to ramp over 50% even when the card hits 85C and chooses to downclock vs increase fan speed."

Yes exactly this. My card doing this itself sometimes. No worries?

I dont have installed any oc programs,no afterburner,no precision,no programs from mobo. 0. Card is 1080 TI FE on stock.

First of all, I don't think you should post a topic every 10 or so hours asking the same question over and over (you have 6 now including this one...).

Second of all, yes reference cards run hot. Mine did the same thing before I watercooled it. I always ran into to 80-85 C when under load and the fans never spun up to 100%. Only when it got dangerously hot (I think?) one time it suddenly took off like a jet enging going 100% (that caught me off-guard :P ). I don't know about the exact fan speeds anymore, but I think they also stopped aroun 60%. Probably because it gets pretty loud if you go faster.

if you're not comfortable with it set up a custom fan curve with something like Afterburner (also allows you to check in-game what how card is doing) or return the card if you still can and get one with an aftermarket cooler. Otherwise nothing you can really do about it I think.

Hello. Sometimes my fan of gpu are louder than usual. Go from 49% to 59%. ITs random. Its ok? I am using stock fan curve. No installed precision, afterburner etc etc . Card is gtx 1080 TI FE

If you are gaming when that is happening that is normal, the card will lower the clock speeds on the card to keep temps below 84C on its own, but it still might need the extra cooling from a higher fan speed.

But there is 85C-86C temp when fan is on auto 59%. ITs normal?
