Final conclusion seems to be to wait for the GP 2 and other next-generation phones unless a good deal for the S8 is encountered?

Thanks for the input guys, this thread got a ton of attention xD

As for the S8 vs iPhone 7, they're both about even other than sales and a recent decrease in the price of the S8 from some retailers.

Also to mention both units do not support CDMA

The NA version supports CDMA and GSM. The International variant is actually worse than the NA one.....

Because you dont need to. Overclocking smartphone SoCs isn't really a thing and you can disable animations if you are that impatient lol.

My old Optimus 2X had been overclocked from 1.0 GHZ to 1.5 GHz. Helped to keep it usable for a bit longer.

Iphone 8 if you wait. I dont like that itll probably have a glass back though, but that seems to be where everyone is headed these days(thanks samsung).

At least it wont have a curved screen like the S8, so it shouldn't be as fragile and youll be able to put a glass screen protector on it.

Isn't the Pixel 2 going to be as expensive as the s8, also putting it out of your price range. I remember the pixel xl was nearly a thousand euro when it came out (at least in Ireland)

From the rumors I've heard, it's still going to be around the first generation Pixel's $650 price point.
