Is it really that bad to put iced tea in a thermos? I'm just kinda wondering.

Really not, imo. You can put basically anything into a "vacuum flask" if you need it to retain its temperature.

Bourbon and iced coke in my thermos right now.

thermos does not make things hot or make things cold. Proper thermos uses a layer of vacuum in glass to preserve the temperature of the contents; so hot or cold as long as it is not room temperature then you are using thermos as designed.
