I recently purchase the ryzen 7  1700 for $300

The price recently dropped

Should I get the price difference $30

Or should I swap it out for the 1700x which is $300 now?

I don't think there's a difference between the x model and the regular one

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

The 1700X may allow for easier overclocking to 4 Ghz as it is a better binned CPU than the 1700.

The 1700X also does not come with a cooler, so you'll have to buy one separately. The 1700 comes with one that is surprisingly good for a stock cooler, plus it has RGB.

People buy 1700x to have better chance on reaching 4Ghz. But it really down to luck.

So if you can reach 4ghz on 1700, it doesnt matter much. But i do feel like 1700 on 4ghz is like squeezing every last bit of performance from the cpu. Somehow feel like the CPU wouldnt last long.
