Is this legitimately the worst mount?

Guest

So I need to put an SSD in a certain case but it doesn't have the brackets... So what I am thinking I'd shown in the attached picture. Except idk if it's safe to have it secured from one side only or if I should put something under it or tape or something.

You can get an adapter. Lay it in the bottom of your case until you get one or just double sided tape it or velcro it.

SSD's are pretty robust. That's perfectly fine unless you're getting into a case tossing competition.

Alright so what I thought of is put some cardboard underneath it to keep it more secure.149955646616171397144.thumb.jpg.d701bc3705955b6206e539d5927c5734.jpg

How about the thing that I just posted the cardboard mount thing, is that all good? Should I add tape? I think it should be fine tbh

I left my SSD at the bottom of the 5.5" bay, not even taped since the power cables are pushing it in.

You could just let it dangle. It would actually be safer than having it half-secure mounted as if something puts pressure on the drive, it could break the housing. SSDs have no moving parts, so just setting them dangle or mounting them loosely is fine.

It's fine. You could leave it unmounted if you really wanted to and slip it between the 3.5" drive cage and one of the side panels.

Would it be better to do the cardboard thing or hanging?

Truthfully it'll be fine, but cardboard. I'd gorilla tape it first. LOL

Cause in the HDD spots there's little notches for it to rest so the carboard lays on each side

Mount it, don't mount it. You're fine either way just don't set it on fire or kick it and you'll be fine.

Cardboard is fine, but it's ok to not use any cardboard. As long as you don't apply stress to the SSD, you can basically let it sit at any position.

Much better than my SSD mount for cheap rig! It's literally thrown on the bottom and held in by some clear tape.

SSD has no moving parts so it can stay any way you want. Only have to concern yourself about not putting pressure on sata data and power connectors (like don't leave the ssd hanging on the cables or stretching them in some way)
