He is right that Macs are good for non-techies. But anyone who can use CCleaner should have a PC at home to tinker with. And play games on. And gaze lovingly at.

Oh come on, didn't we drop enough doodoo on this a year ago? Gamers Nexus even rightfully took the piss out of it by making a build video on the spot. Something something hard to build something something.

IMO it's the same it's always been. Will it take time? Of course it will, you won't be up and running in 10 mins. Is it hard to put together? To which I'll ask "Can you sufficiently comprehend written English?". I've seen the most inept people put together rigs, freak the hell out, find some rudimentary help and have a machine up and running.

Too hard? I just laugh when people say this shit. It's not hard, it takes no fucking skill. When I was just barely 14 I built my first PC from scrap parts by looking inside another working PC to see where everything went. I knew absolutely nothing at that point, the only thing I'd done up to that point was install some SDRAM in an old optiplex and install a sound blaster live on some other PC. I didn't even use google, I don't know why I didn't and damn I was a stupid kid for not using it, but I guess it proves that it takes 0 brain. Lots of time? Lmao, if it takes you more than two hours to build a basic PC, I think you may have other things to worry about. You also don't really need to do a lot of research either, just use a part picker list from someone reputable. Too expensive? You can build really good rigs for 500$ these days (well not atm because of miners, but still).

it took a while to get into the apple "just works" thing, but honestly, why didn't he just watch a build guide? any one of the LTT build guides would have probably covered most of the issues he had (like when he was concerned he was breaking the processor when seating it).

it seems like he made no effort to learn first and just spent a bunch of money. I can't imagine spending 5 hours building a PC, even including installing the OS and updates these days...

Eh, he makes a couple points which are kind of good ish. He states that it is very complicated, and yeah, sometimes it is, but then again so is college and politics and finances and everything, so it kind of pales in comparison. He strongly states that it is not a craft to build a PC, and I agree, at this point it certainly is not, IF you aren't doing anything past the basics. He recommends Macs for inexperienced users: Hell no. Windows is way easier to understand. Think of how many inexperienced Mac users there are who don't even know how to properly close an application. It's horrendous. That said, buy a decent Windows prebuilt or build a simple system. This guy went over the top and called it hard. That's like jumping into a CSGO tournament, getting rekt, and leaving saying that video games are just too damn hard to play. Seriously.

That said, it sounds a bit like a very very very subtle satire.

One more thing, he called his incompetence and lack of simple research Incompatibility,  and accuses the PC community of not pushing for better standards.
