My computer is lagging with high spec components

Jdun693

Hey guys,

I just built a new PC with high spec components, yet the computer is very laggy and slow when it comes to gaming or running anything. That requires more power than MS paint.

The components are:

CPU: I7-6700K

GRAPHICS:PNY GTX 1070

MOBO: MSIZ170A tomahawk

RAM: 16GB Kingston black DDR4

STORAGE: 1000GB HDD

CPU cooling: Corsair H100I GTX

GPU cooling: stock

PSU: corsair CX750M

Any help would be greatly apreciated

-John

Check if there is high disk usage as that might be causing the issue

Temps under load. If your AIO is dead or not attached right, your CPU would overheat and thermal throttle heavily. What HDD do you have?

Goody. Is it a new system? It could be Windows indexing something. And I'm assuming you've installed Nvidia's drivers.

Can you open Task manager to see if your CPU or Hard disk is spiked?

Hmmmm. You could try using DDU to uninstall all display drivers, then reinstall them. See if that helps.

Yeah... 110C is where your PC shuts down to avoid damage...

Your AIO is installed correctly, with good thermal paste and all that? The pump/fans are plugged into the mobo and working?

Hmmmm. You didn't leave and plastic protector or something on the CPU block?  Take a pen or screwdriver and rest it on the pump, then put it up to your ear. You should hear/feel the motor in the pump if it's running.

Hmmm. Does the rad feel hot to the touch? And what/how much thermal paste did you use?

I didn't apply the thermal paste the unit came pre applied and the rad actually feels cold to the touch

I'd try removing it and putting on some new thermal paste (Arctic Sliver is cheap and really good). And the rad and pipes should be warm, especially if your CPU is at 100C.

Try to clear CMOS if you have overclocked it. If not, backup the HDD, and Reinstall Windows from that backup and see if that helps.
