Best mATX AM4 board for cpu/ram overclocking out/coming soon?

Just now, DocSwag said:

Yeah, color of the heatsink doesn't matter so the kit will work just as well.

The build looks great, only thing I might think about is that when you add a high end aio with the 1600 you're getting super near 7700k/1700 territory instead, so either you might want to consider a cheaper cooler or just making the leap to one of those CPUs instead.

I'm still considering a 1700, but that's comparing a 1700 + stock cooler vs 1600 + aio, which I wouldn't be doing. I'm going aio either way, and I need more than 4 cores for streaming so the 7700K is a flop too. In the end it's just gonna depend on how my wallets feeling :D The 1700 is compelling though as I'm pretty sure the 1600 vs 1700 is the difference between streaming 720p60fps and 1080p60fps.

I see :P

Honestly I'm not too sure. There haven't been good tests for streaming with Ryzen 5 so I'm not too sure. If I had to take a guess Ryzen 7 would see less of a performance drop while gaming than Ryzen 5 but that's just a guess :P

Well from what the videos I have seen, if your limiting the stream to 720p 60fps the 1600 won't even hit 100% usage. If that's the case I wouldn't think there's much of an improvement between the two, 1080p is another story though I'd definitely want a 1700 for that.

Psu is a bit arguable. Both are excellent quality and I think the RMx has a better zero rpm fan mode.

-b350 doesn't have sli support

-The S24 is a better AIO, just look here for s24 vs masterliquid pro 280

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cooling/105436-fractal-design-celsius-s24/?page=2

While the pro 280 is 5 degrees cooler the S24 is 6 dB quieter under load which is quite a bit. The pro 240 is probably gonna be worse and I'd already place the s24 as better than the pro 280.

Thanks you pretty much summed up exactly what I would have said. As far as I'm aware the S24 is the quietest aio available right now that doesn't severely trade temps for sound. (OC3D made a great review on it, you can draw your own conclusions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxHH6wtTgyQ) I'd be interested in a cheaper psu but I'm not looking to sacrifice silence to save $20, as far as I'm aware the RMx series is one of the quietest psu series available.

Yeah the S24 is super awesome when it comes to noise. It's definitely put itself on the top of my recommendation list.

Looking at that NH-D15S is pretty impressive.. from what I'm seeing it's within less than 2db of the S24 while keeping things 3c+ cooler, at like 66% of the cost. I know I said earlier that I wanted an aio period but it's hard to justify seeing those results. I noticed they were using a 4 core in that testing, would this temperature gap close when jumping to a 6/8 core or is the D15S simply better at cooling than the S24, the only downside I see is the size of the air cooler.

If you look at these results

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11400/the-fractal-design-celsius-s24-s36-aio-coolers-review/4

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9415/top-tier-cpu-air-coolers-9way-roundup-review/12

And click on the 200w things (to simulate a higher TDP CPU) the Celsius s24 tends to perform cooler and a bit quieter.

The D15 is still an excellent CPU cooler but the S24 is as well.

Thanks, that's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for! :D Looks like the S24 is indeed the right choice, also found out the warranty is like 2 years longer than I thought it was.
