No this is 100% false. It has to pass 620hrs of 14 instances of Prime95 with Dancehall Reggae running in the background with at least 86% volume and you need the gorilla or paperclip desktop buddy enabled and running. Every half hour of the 620hrs you need to do 12 jumping jacks followed by the teapot dance tip me over and pour my spout.

People that champion value always seem to ignore that price:performance ratio never scales 1:1...especially when you get near the top.

Same thing happens in any enthusiast community.  It's always the last 10% that costs a great deal more.  Cars, guns, computers, you name it.  The only difference with PC community is that the snowflakes have a better medium for crying out loud about the world not being a fair place.

Nah. It's only stable if you can start Linpack MKL without hearing a loud "pop". If you don't hear a pop, but smell a burning smell, then that just means you are extra close to stability.

I am just now figuring out how to get the voltage offset to work how I want with my Gigabyte board.  Coming from Asus, I have had some learning to do.  The good new is, that now with the voltage no longer pinned at 1.235, the 7820x actually looks to be running a good bit cooler.  I am 20 minutes into Prime 95 "Standard Blend" with AVX and my hottest core has been 79c.  9c cooler than it was with fixed voltage.  It is actually spending much of it's time at 1.133v, which I would assume is because of the AVX offset lowering clocks.

I am going to let it run for a full hour and see how high the temps will climb.  Then on to realbench.

The Gaming 7 is definitely a learning curve for sure.  I almost always stick with Asus and truthfully the only thing I miss in Asus boards is the BIOS.  It may be bad enough that I switch.  :(

I actually have a Asus Prime Deluxe getting delivered Friday...lol.  I ordered it in frustration to the Bios learning curve.  Now that I have this one humming pretty good, I'm not sure what to do.

It really is a high quality board.  Very nice.  It's just the BOIS that's killing me.  Everything else is 100% perfect.  I wish the Apex was available already.

Gigabyte UEFI BIOS is still hard to navigate / understand eh?

The last Gigabyte motherboard I've had to deal with was a lower-end H97 (or was it Z97, don't remeber) motherboard...like a GA-H97-HD3.

I personally use ASUS motherboards with my own builds.

The UEFI interface is definitely more refined.

Yeah, it's a real shame too because everything about this Gigabyte board screams top quality.  The performance is awesome and the one thing I found really odd, the onboard sound actually sounds amazing compared to my current Asus x99 and z270 boards, neither of which are cheap versions.

The BIOS on it's own is bad enough that I'm wanting to switch, but I keep telling myself that once I get everything setup and profiles saved, I won't have to deal with it much more.  We'll see.

I also usually only use Asus boards on my builds.  There are some great things about the Gigabyte board that drew me to it.  Heatpipe on the VRM and 8+8 power being the two biggest.

I'm going through dozen and dozens of reboots just trying to learn what does what.  It's time consuming to say the least.

Could always make your own VRM cooling solution: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004CL89D8/ref=psdc_2998409011_t3_B002BWXW6E

These with an active fan will help keep a VRM from exploding. Man... I miss my Phenom x.x

I was absolutely prepared to have to deal with active VRM cooling after watching der8bauer's bullshit video, but mine isn't even getting warm to touch and I don't throttle clear up to ludicrous speed.  That's right!

I was prepared to deal with it in my custom 5L ITX box I was working on for a performance:liter record. I was worried without any internal airflow in the case, that the VRM's would heatsoak. So I bought some ramsinks and a 40mm delta fan to try to remedy that, lol. Sometimes, the most redneck solutions are the best when you have no alternatives.

The Apex and OC Formula would be of interest to me.  I know the Apex comes out at the end of this month/beginning of next.

You don't like EVGA? The little I've used of my Z97 Classified seems really really nice.

Prime95 with AVX "Standard Blend" 1-hour temp results with voltage offset working correctly.  Hottest core hit 81*...not bad for a AIO.

I have had a few failure to boots since starting to use the voltage offset.  When this happens the board switches me to the 2nd bios, which has none of my profiles saved.  Then when it fails to boot, it sends me back to the first Bios that has none of the changes I have made to try to fix the first fail to boot.

This BIOS setup is infuriating.

I think that makes you the new 8 core ambient champ.  Post those results with CPUz in the LTT Cinebench thread.   Congrats man.
