Which GPU should I get for this setup? I already ordered everything else from the list, I just need a good GPU to go along with this setup. I'm not going to get a 1050ti, because a 970 is aparrently better than it. Please help me asap! Thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SBF1080p/saved/MPLhP6

First off I'd suggest you get a g4560 and pny cs13 whatever it's called instead. G4560 is pretty much as good as the i3 for half the price and the ssd is better for cheaper. I would use the money saved to get a better psu, so something like this.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($74.89 @ B&H)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-B250M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($69.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: PNY - CS1311 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($52.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($48.44 @ OutletPC)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - S12II 520W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($29.99 @ Newegg)

As for your original question, are the two similar in price? If so, 970 is a better option.

I've had too many Seagate drives fail to buy from them again. I know these are better than usual, but if you look at reviews you'll see a higher percentage of fails than WD Blue.

I say pay $6 for more reliability.

User benchmark

Userbenchmark isn't a great source...

As well, you're comparing the WD blue, not the Caviar blue which I listed. I believe the blue is only 5400 rpm whereas the Caviar blue is 7200.

As well, imo the randoms are more important since when it comes to app launch times and stuff on an hdd random read is more important.

Either way your spliting hairs here. As a secondary storage drive reliability is more important

According to someone else in this topic, wd drives are more reliable though.

Hm weird, on PCPP all the blues are listed as 5400 rpm but checking newegg a lot are 7200.

Either way though, the random read advantage, imo, matters a lot and as someone else mentioned wd is more reliable.

Didn't know seagate drive are more likely to fail though

They are not in my experience. I have old( and I mean old) Seagate drives that work and I have old( again I mean old) WD drives that still work.

When I'm buying a new drive I usually go for WD but that's mostly because they are easy to pick out now with their new color name scheme. I don't know one Seagate barracuda from the other but I know very easily what the difference are between a WD Blue, Black, Red, ect.

Seagate's current lineup of drives is called the Guardian Series. They are broken down into 3 main purposes of drives as follows:

BarraCuda - for standard desktop PC and gaming use (green theme)
IronWolf - for NAS use (red theme)
SkyHawk - for Surveillance use (blue theme)

Here is a link which details some of the main similarities and differences across the three types

You mentioned not being able to tell BarraCuda drives apart. Our current lineup of BarraCuda models:

2.5-inch "laptop" drives: ST500LM030 (500GB), ST1000LM048 (1TB), ST2000LM015 (2TB), ST3000LM024 (3TB), ST4000LM024 (4TB), ST5000LM000 (5TB)

3.5-inch "desktop" drives: ST500DM009 (500GB), ST1000DM010 (1TB), ST2000DM006 (2TB), ST3000DM008 (3TB), ST4000DM004 (4TB)

BarraCuda Pro drives: ST2000DM009 (2TB), ST4000DM006 (4TB), ST6000DM004 (6TB), ST8000DM0004 (8TB), ST10000DM0004 (10TB)

We also have another type of drive in the desktop/gaming category which is a Solid-State Hybrid Drive called FireCuda. The current model lineup for that SSHD:

2.5-inch FireCuda: ST500LX025 (500GB), ST1000LX015 (1TB), ST2000LX001 (2TB)

3.5-inch FireCuda: ST1000DX002 (1TB), ST2000DX002 (2TB)

Anything else is from a previous lineup. We hope that clears up some of the confusion regarding BarraCuda drives.
