They said they aren't making an official one since the web version of this site is already very good.

People are free to make their own extensions/plugins/apps as long as they make it clear that it is not official.

You should make it! I could help, except that it'd take me a few minutes just to figure out how to get Swift to print "Hello World" (I think it's pretty simple, but I don't remember. I never got far in my Swift course ☹️). And IDK how to get it to read the website and show notifications and such. Though if you need someone to brush up on their code and do some grunt work, fix spelling mistakes, etc, then I'm your man!

Just know that there have been 2 other real attempts at making an unofficial app, and 1 semi-official attempt from a free third party. None of which have come to fruition. But there is no code of conducty legal stuff stopping you from trying.

Oh Edit: There is no page or thread API, but you can access an RSS feed and there is an API for user notifications and the like at https://linustechtips.com/main/page/api.php

Discord is an alternative to Teamspeak, it's actually pretty cool.

@Bill_Shill To reliably show the content of the forum inside a native iOS application, you'd need something like a rest API. Something that the LTT forum doesn't offer. To send notifications reliably you'd need a lot of server-side logic, you can't just use Swift for that.

And as LMG already stated and I totally agree with that: The web version of the forum is already pretty good! So why would you waste your time and build an app for something, which is already pretty good?

this basically will let you see if you have notifications but not their contents, without an official api to have a working app you would need to parse the html then display it in the app by then you really have to ask yourself it it is worth the time investment?

push notifications?

The api was developed because it was significantly less strain on the LTT servers

@AluminiumTech made a Windows Store app, but he went up and poofed so I don't know who else you could ask.

he left due to way he felt the LLT team handled certain discussions between them, the app is still very much alive but under project core tech, though the app just had YouTube videos of tech channels it doesn't interact with the forum at all. you can find them on github

I'm a developer for the electron version for desktop.

@Hazy125 would be even less strain to return json for everything and let the client + angularJS handle displaying the content.

In this day in age, it's mostly implied that if they don't say we'll pay you plz do this; it's unofficial and regardless of labeling the company can still sue for fraud or whatever other legal term for impersonation, or riding off their name.

EDIT

Enderman posted a link stating unnoficial content is permitted,
