Keep i5-6600K or get Ryzen 5 1600X?

So, I currently have, as the title suggest an I5-6600K (not overclocked because it was acting weird and it freaked me out so I turned it back to stock) and I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the R5 1600X given what I want to do.

Also let me add that I currently have 16GB of G-SKILL RIPJAW DDR4-3000 which I know most likely I'll have to settle for 2933 on.

I make relatively basic youtube videos, sometimes stream and quite often game. Now I know that the Ryzen is better for multi-tasking but do you think I would see a big enough leap to justify the cost? I wold most likely sell the mobo/CPU to recoup a bit of the money. (bit tight right now)

Oh as well I have a 212 EVO, I hate it, but it works. I didn't intend on overclocking as I'm not SUPER confident in my abilities to do so hence the X. However, I see that most benchmarks put the 1600 at or around the 1600x in most scenarios IF you are to OC...

Anyways, thoughts?

*also an MSI B350 board would be what I get most likely. I have an MSI RX 480 4GB and I like the red*

*I was also toying with the notion of an R7 1700, but I think it's just a bit to much. That and w/o an OC, the clock speeds...*

Why not upgrade to an i7 6700K/7700K? You can upgrade without changing your motherboard and you can sell your 6600K and get some money back

Unless OP needs the extra cores, 6700k/7700k is a better option and also cheaper.

Right now, an R5 1600 ($199) + B350 (starts at $70) is cheaper than a 6700K or 7700K (either at least $310).

Well, he can probably sell his 6600K for $150, so the 6700K upgrade will only cost $160. But yeah, I do agree that a 1600 would be a better option if he needs more than 4 cores :D

Whether or not he stays on his current platform just depends on if he needs more cores or not since going either route is going to cost ~$300.

Is streaming/editing more important? Go Ryzen.

Is raw gaming power (10-15% better fps, depending on the game) more important? Go with a 6700K/7700K.

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti FE

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Tuf X570 Plus Wifi

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53

PSU: EVGA G6 Supernova 850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite

Current Laptop:

Model: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HS

GPU: RTX 3060

RAM: 16GB @3200 MHz

Old PC:

CPU: Intel i7 8700K @4.9 GHz/1.315v

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A
