850 Evo or 960 Pro

MaxPlaysGames

Heyo, im deciding to get either the 850 Evo 1 TB or 960 Pro 512 GB.

Now is it really worth it to sacrifice the 488 GB of Storage for the faster one?

Im mainly going to game and want a fast starting system like less than 30 seconds to get into Windows.

Probably not going to move files alot or render Videos, probably no videos at all.

So from what i heard the 960 Pro boots Windows within 3-6 Seconds, and the Evo between 10-15 seconds. Could anyone confirm whether or not this is accurate?

Thank you.

it's not a massive difference for games

you'll only really notice an improvement in large file transfers, or in apps that benefit from fast storage, like Premiere.

pick up the 850 evo

Up to you. If you're loading your startup folder with every program you normally use, 960 EVO could be a good choice.

If you're only using one SSD with no drives, go for the 850 EVO M.2 if you'd like. Get more storage before more speed/less latency.

I would just buy the 1Tb of 850Evo ..even though i am a bit skeptical about your statement having to wait 10 seconds longer and had 488Gb extra space is better for me.

Oh and it wont make noticeable different in gaming.

Thats why i asked if this is accurate, its just what i heard.

Im talking about the booting, from clicking start to showing Windows. Im more than likely going to turn off everything starting from start. And no, ill get a 2tb normal hard drive 7200rpm one too

the evo and pro are super similar in terms of boots iirc. I would go for more storage over faster speeds, especially considering your use case

Okay so 15~ seconds to boot so thats was accurate. But thats the regular version not the pro of the 960, but i guess since its faster it must also be boot faster?

Like I said. Unless you're loading all of your usual programs to the startup folder, go for the 850. I'm loading about 17-19 programs and loving the lower latency on my 960 EVO. Then again, I do have more SSD's and HDD's in my system for purposes other than my OS and programs.
