GTX 1070 with a 4K monitor ? Not a good idea.

The Intel 600p is really poor for an SSD.

I would go with an i7 myself. The i5 is becoming less and less attractive.

You cannot fit an i7 into the build he wants.

The Intel 600p is fine as a boot/windows drive -it's only poor for doing large file writes.

Theres no problem with running a 4K monitor at 1440p. Theyre limited on 1440p monitors at larger than 24" that fit into the budget. This is AUD pricing.

He said he can go a little over the budget so it isn't impossible with a few tweaks.

The 600p is crap for an NVMe SSD that is why it is so cheap. I would take a standard SATA SSD such as the Crucial MX300 over it.

If you want to game at 1440p then just get a 1440p monitor.

He wants the RVZ102 which is another $40, and requires an SFX(L) PSU which is another $60 odd.

I do have both a 600p and a M.2 MX300 at home as well as the Kingston SSDNow that you listed - and I don't see any problem with any of them as OS drives.

The condition you're talking about is due to saturating the SLC cache, which would only be noticeable with sustained large file writes which you aren't going to be doing to it.

Gaming is just fine on a 4K @ 1440p - the interpolation is fine because scaling is perfect from 4K to 1440p - and having 4K myself, i love it for desktop work and being able to watch 4K YouTube & Netflix natively at full resolution.

Using it as well and making even more compromises you could even sneak in the GTX1080

I would still want an i7 or Ryzen 6 core.

If his friend is prepared to go with a different case in a similar style.

That would work as well. There are too many compromises going with ITX imo as you have a limited choice for boards most of the time and you also pay a premium for small form factor :D

Ok, my freind has $2000 Aud to spend. If it's a better performance than it dosnt have to be itx and dosnt need a window. What components can you put in it to make it worth while (eg 1070 and a 1440p monitor and i7)

I agree about the ssd he would only need an ssd for booting and system drivers especially if that means he can get better components

He would probably not mind a bigger itx case although an i7 would be good and somthing like $2300 or so including a monitor would be great although the pc needs to look good (black and red)

I have had a talk to him and he said that it can go beond console size if that means it'll look better and he can have a 1440p monitor and have a side window. He is not doing much other than gaming but a few of us are in a compition to make him the best rig for $2000 so a water cooled i7 would be best

the only reson I'm going back over this is because the circumstances have changed and it's now a compition
