Samsung EVO 850 250GB

Hello friends,

I want to share with you guys my experience of changing an old HDD with an SSD (Samsung EVO 850 250GB).

First of all, I want to say, after this change, I think the SSD upgrade is one of the best options to speed up your PC or laptop.

My laptop has an B980, 4GB ram and now an SSD drive. Samsung's product gave my laptop a great speed up in everyday tasks. like booting time boost,

opening apps is instant without any delay. I don't play games on this system, but I code on it. The results are great: programming is a lot faster now.

I advise everyone with HDDs to upgrade to an SSD. It will speed your system a lot.

Thanks for the atention, and have a nice day!

This is better as a status update. Your laptop is too weak to make effective use of an 850 evo.

Comparing (simple example) the booting time, before and after, the results are clear. 1:20 vs 0:20

I'm not saying the Samsung EVO 850 is better than anything else, I am not recommending specific SSD module.

You spent way too much money. A less high-end SSD would have produced the same results.

An ssd is one of the best ways to give any old computer a new lease of life. I upgraded my 2008 Asus c2d laptop back in 2012 and it made it so much better to enjoy. You don't need a sata 3 interface to enjoy the responsiveness of any ssd regardless of make,  especially as most of those older laptop drives are slow 5400 drives

Well, maybe, I don't this-this Samsung model is too expensive I've got it for 100$, and the warranty is not bad.

I'm using a 240GB Sandisk ultra III I got on sale for $35. Of course I have 2TB worth of RAID0 storage, but my boot time is like 10 seconds.

You're just being pessimistic, if he wants Samsung that is his choice, and for smaller 120/250gb models they're very little difference in pricing to cheaper models ($10 for the models being discussed) . If he does upgrade he could always move the Samsung to a new machine as well. You got your ssd for a steal and a nonstandard price, so it's not really relevant

Im planing on upgrading to a i5-3360m - 25$

That processor will not fit in an old laptop running a B980

Most laptops have CPU's soldered to the board, not socket release systems like desktops.

The manual says it supports i3/i5, but thanks I will do extra research.

My 1TB MPC Transport T2400 seems to disagree.

Many of my past Dell laptops have had socketed CPUs. The DXXX series is famous for the socketed C2Ds. Processors like the I7 3612QM are socketed, I had one in my 17R Special Edition.
