Trying to figure out my temperatures. With the door closed to my small bedroom, the room heats up. The AC is set at 75F. The computer, monitor, mini fridge and my body heat are the only sources of heat. But it gets like an oven in my room with the door closed. Speccy varies idle temp between 36c and 43c depending on the time of day.

Sounds pretty normal. What is room temp when it "heats up"? Btw, idle is when CPU is <1% use. Temps you are seeing are more likely so called "low load" when CPU is at 5-15%. You only see true idle temps in BIOS and just after you have landed on desktop.

Room temp when it heats up has been as high as 87F. But yeah...low load about 5~6%. That was the first thing I did was use Process Explorer to make sure nothing nasty was running. Even disabled more Win7 services than normal tweaking.

I've got one small (external) 200mm fan blowing air directly at an intake fan on the back of the tower. Then I've got a normal size box fan blowing air at me. When I open the door the CPU temp drops down to the 36c, OC'd GTX 1070 @ 40c, mobo chipset at 30c.

Knew that Haswell & refresh run hot when I built it. But wanted Windows 7 for Skyrim modding, and wanted M.2 SSD capability, so Z97 was the best way. If I could afford it, I would go custom liquid, but aside from that, not sure what else I can try.

Didn't know where to post this...PC and ambient temps...

Wait, what? What is your airflow config if rear is intake? And P400s isn't very good with airflow in general. Looks good, but thats about it.

I don't know about that. They aren't that hot chips. Haswells don't OC that well, but they aren't nowhere near 7700K range with heat. With your room temp and cooling I'd say you are seeing something like 65-75C during load on CPU. With lower voltages maybe less.

That part belongs to air cooling. But your original post was more like status update.

Rad mounted in front with 4 fans push/pull/intake, 1 fan on back intake, 2 fans on top exhaust.

Haswell and refresh run hotter than my Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, and Skylake i7's did.

Yeah partially air cooling, partially liquid...a section for general temperatures would have been nice! :)
