how do you do it then?

also thx for the answer

It's a fantastic card

the fans do turn off under idle, and it's completely silent. Stays under 70c at 100% usage overclocked to 20388mhz.

you download the Asus Aura software from their website to control the lighting, but you don't have to have it open to have the lighting on all the time. I think there's a chip on the card that stores your lighting settings.

The pricing is okay (not too expensive, nor too cheap for premium fans). They don't do RGB fans at all, since their design language speaks performance before aesthetics. The aesthetics is pretty understated at best and not too gaudy.

In my opinion, "understated" would be a neutral grey or black that attracts no attention and would tend to blend in with most other computer hardware. That weird Noctua beige color is dull, sure, but it's such a bizarre and unique color for computer hardware that I think it attracts as much attention as anything. Literally nothing else in a PC is ever going to match it. Whenever I see that color, my first thought is that the owner is going for some kind of retro-70's aesthetic. :P

Also, how specifically does Noctua's design language speak performance to you? And do you feel that has to be mutually exclusive with aesthetics?

To me, the design language, again, is performance before aesthetics. I understand that the brown/tan color scheme is unique in the market, but not as many people are going for those fans as it doesn't match up with the color scheme. I understand if that's the people's sentiment, but at least it makes Noctua stand out.

It has this kind of rugged appearance, especially the IndustrialPPC fans, as they are made of a special fiberglass composite material. The fans are really made for reliability, and that's something I appreciate. One other part of their aesthetics with their CPU coolers speaks of performance and simplistic design, rather than trying to be this crazy, over-the-top looking one. Just three colors (brown, tan, and nickel) is pretty much all they need, and I'll gladly use one of their coolers if I wanted to.
