MSI AB reads 95, Card is not hot to touch. Advice?

i purchased a gtx 550ti in a bundle of dying or dead gpu for 5$ aud.  well this one hits 95c and just sits there. turn off heaven and the card drops rapidly to 50c. then lowers slowly. so can MSI be broken? when i plug the card in to my test bed i get some bios info on the screen before i get any motherboard bio post. 

 

Maybe its running a buggy custom bios ? 

how do i go about resetting a bios on gpu?

Before any of that, have you actually pulled the thing apart and taken a look at it? Is it thermal throttling?

im doing that right now so far its this!  [ i test the card as i get it before i even take it apart for cleaning etc, saves isopol and pastes]

Gnarly. Probably hasn't been touched internally since the factory. Cleaning that dust out, and getting some paste that'll actually do something on there should go a long ways towards helping. Sometimes dust alone can cause oddities with hardware.

51 is max load temp after clean

95 is max load and idle temps before

That reminds me of my GTX 650ti OC 2GB. Long story short, never go without dust filters if you have a uarry or concrete plant within at least a 10km radius.

yea was from what i can tell a old workstation set for some graphic deign firm. all dust and junk in the fans . im sneezing now and my rag is brown. was light grey

just cleaned its brother so if i can get both to be working maybe try SLI for a laugh and then resell them tbh

Update. both cards work. looks like thermal overheating was the issue with both now i have $5 SLI 550 to play with till i get a buyer lol.

they sold legit 24 hours after ebay listing. Wow. 5$ cards turned a 95$ profit for me
