Remake of the delidding video?

Cl2G

The delidding video by LTT has been one of the most half assed attempts I've probably ever seen that basically was just filler content for the channel.

Any possibility you guys could revisit this topic and actually put some time and effort into it?

The channel and company have been growing immensely it seems but the quality and depth of content has been lacking when it comes to the core base of the channel, pc performance and tech info.

Really compiling research and getting into the core of the matter is the way to go, not more generalized, blase reviews and video's just to fill 7 minutes of time for an upload.

Wut did I just watch.

I don't need an video to inform me about the process methods or results.

I was an offering an idea and opportunity to the team to create some more in depth and valueable content that is highly pertinent to the current state of intel cpus and overclocking.

What does it tell you to do in the video thumbnail...

Not to do what they attempted since there's a lot of specialist tools available to assist with delidding a CPU then using a technique that could screw up the fragile components under the heatspreader.

You mean this?

What more do you want over this and the previous video? Come on now, if anyone wants to delid a CPU, they more than likely did more research than just watching a video on youtube and if not, that's on them. I believe Linus gave plenty of info in his previous video. The mainstream, for who LTT cater to, don't care for delidding.

LTT does not cater to the hardcore enthusiast type.

More for general PC guys and gamers. Much larger audience.

Even the phase change video was a shamble. But the delid video is worse.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. I'm all for hardcore enthusiasts really getting the most out of their components, but is delidding even really worth it?

The point isn't to have another guide. The point is to admit his first video was wrong, and to put out correct information to counteract the bullshit that was their first video. Enough people watch LTT that are wanting to learn more about technology, and them putting out bad info acts as another barrier between casual user and upcoming enthusiasts.

So, what is this bad info you speak of? That it isn't really worth it? Because his testing was flawed since he didn't use that more liquidy thermal "paste" that he mention in the video and didn't seal the lid shut again with thermal adhesives? Or that there was any risk of damaging the cpu while attempting to delid it?

Let's be honest. For mainstream users delidding is a bad practice. Even ignoring that even professionals can mess up a processor by delidding poorly, users are idiots.

I still have not delidding my 7700k because the risk of breaking a $350 CPU, and the risk of finding a fault afterwards that Intel won't touch because of the delidding. Maaaaaaaybe when the warranty is dead and I'm replacing the CPU anyways I may delid it to push it a little further, but for most mainstream users even that's not worth it.

Let's be fair, if computers components weren't plug and forget, even most people who build their own PC never would.

That there will only be a drop of around 1-3C, with the statement being absolute when they only test at stock, and with insufficient stress testing, and only testing one TIM. They take that to apply it to overclocking and all TIMs.
