165hz IPS or 240hz TN for CSGO and more

MrDexter

I am in need of a new monitor as my £100 60hz 1080P monitor is quite poor compared to my 1080.

I ha e searched around and really want to upgrade to 1440p and at least 144hz.i have seen that 240hzis slightly noticeable but I would have to sacrifice IPS. I have also read that TN is better for competitive FPS games as it has a lower response time.

What would people recommend. I don't really want to spend more that £700 but the cheaper it is the better I just want something that will suit me perfectly.

thanks for the help never new it was going to be this difficult to upgrade.

If you're playing pro and really serious, buy the 240Hz. However, if you're a normal guy just looking for a monitor upgrade, get the IPS 165Hz, why? It looks has better colors, better sharpness, and an overall better look.

Also: 240Hz is currently only available on 1080p panels, 1440p available with 144Hz panels (165Hz with overclocking)

If you're not secretly a pro CS:GO player, 165hz ips. You'll never be able to really tell the difference between 1ms response time and 4ms anyways.

hey dexter...

I would personally go to a local PC store and check the difference in color between an IPS and TN monitor

I don't think you would be needing a 240Hz unless you are a pro but at the same time for CS Go or any other FPS game you don't really need good color on IPS much and personally I don't see that much of a difference in color between IPS and TN

I have seen 1-2 models that are 240hz 1440p but they are £800 if the difference between 165hz and 240hz and 1ms and 4ms isn't going to be noticeable then the ups display should be the better choice just because I will be playing other games in it and most probably some films

Get 144Hz/165Hz 1440p monitor (preferably IPS).

The extra screen estate is so nice compared to 1080p.

Working on a 1080p monitor now feels super cramped.

Haha, I am gonna keep my 1080p monitor as a second monitor and get rid of my current second monitor thats not quite 1080P. Would love to be able to shell out to buy more than one 1440p monitor but do not have the money for that right now. RIP OCD but thank you for the input truly appreciate it

If money is an issue then you shouldn't be considering 240Hz monitors IMO

I have the money to buy 1 or even 2 but I find that unnecessary.

@Obersachse @TVwazhere Is there one specific 165HZ 1440P monitor you would specifically go for. I have done some research and found four. These include:

I have heard about the issues with the QC checks but what other issues do they face or is it all down to personal preference?

I did some research and found out that the response times for them all except the PG279Q are on average 12ms. with a minimum of 4ms. Should I be concerned with this. Should I just hope to be one of the lucky people and buy a PG279Q?
