Optimal GPU and CPU for ultra-budget laptop.

I wanted to know about GPU and CPU performance in a laptop.

Q.1 - Does an i7 make a huge difference over a i5 in gaming performance ON A LAPTOP?

Q.2 - Does a GTX 1050Ti make a huge difference over GTX 1050 in gaming performance ON A LAPTOP?

1. CPU suffix is more important than the numbers. U chips are dual cores while HQ/HK chips are quad cores. The fastest U chip, the i7-7600U is about 10-20% slower than the slowest HQ chip, the i5-7300HQ.

2. Yes, 1050Ti is much better

It's somewhat legit, it's a rebranded Clevo. Same chassis comes with a 7700 as well.

well the thing is, there are only two configs available :

1. i5 and 1050

2. i7 and 1050ti

i just wanted to know will the 1st one cut it for light and moderately demanding game, cuz the price difference between both configs is kinda big. And also, these configs that im talking about are from brands like Dell,HP,Asus etc.

I'm going to use the Dell Inspiron Gaming 7000 series as an example here because honestly, it's probably the only laptop under $1,000 I would buy for any gaming use other than that Eluktronics thing that was posted previously.

The jump between the i5 + 1050, and the i5 + 1050ti version of the Inspiron is $50 ($799 > $849).  For that 50 bucks you also upgrade from a Terabyte of spinning rust to a 256GB SSD. I would absolutely drop the extra $50 for that.

I would not buy a gaming laptop from HP. The Omen 15t is simply more expensive than the Inspiron 7000 and lower quality. The Pavilion 15t just doesn't have the 1050 Ti as an option. 1050 is as high as it goes.

I would not buy a gaming laptop from Asus except for GL502VM and one other that I forget off the top of my head, so basically just the GL502VM and that's probably above your price range.

For MSI you can buy the GL62M-7RE (1050) or the GL62M-7RD (1050 Ti) from Xotic for literally the same price - They're both $899 for the 1TB Spinning Rust model with the i5 and $999 for the 1TB Spinning Rust model with the i7.

Also there's very clearly a GL62M with the i5 + 1050ti - Thats the one he linked to. And it's only $9 more than the i5 + 1050 and $100 less than the i7 + 1050

I'm in India here. The taxes and prices and configs are over the roof. So for you the laptop is for 800$, where as here for me that is equal to 1250$ here in India. And that's the main issue here. Also not forgetting the configs options are shit. I have only 2 options : i5 and 1050 or i7 and 1050ti. I just don't know what to do.

What's the price difference for you between the two? If it's more than like $200 equivalent, screw it. Get the i5 and 1050.
