You might want to consider waiting to take a look at Threadripper and Skylake X (though Threadripper will probably be a better option, since anything other above 8c on Skylake X is a bit expensive).

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Or this:

@DocSwag

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

They are revealed at computex now, so end of next month will most likely the first once be available. The higher end once will most likely be available in August.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

what programs?

Most don't need much gpu power for 4k, a 1060 will be fine, you want more cpu power than gpu power.

@Being Delirious made an excellent build, the 1700 is a wonderful choice.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Most editing programs these days support GPU rendering, so the GPU power is not going to waste.

but they can't use that much gpu. They only use the gpu for some effects and uses, and most encoding is still done on the gpu. For most uses anything beyond a 1060 or 1070 will make no difference.

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Premiere-Pro-CC-2017-GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-11GB-Performance-912/

"The GTX 1080 Ti is about 14% faster than the GTX 1070, 9% faster than the GTX 1080, and about 1% faster than the Titan X."

I will say thats worth the extra money, if you do 4k and have some length on the video (20min+).

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

A 1060 can't do much at 4k

i'm not sure if i can wait. it is for a work system they may be needing it already.

i have settled on the amd system. this one https://pcpartpicker.com/user/pad07/saved/xb2ycf any further advice would be greatly apreciated.

now i would like to know a good motherboard for the I7 6850k or any good advice on a combination of a i7 cpu and a good board for it. i have noticed on thepcpartpicker websire that all the x99 i have picked says they may need a bios upgrade to work with the 6850k. i have done bios upgrades but i don't really like to do it. not for being lazy but in my country the electricity service tend to have shortages at times.
