How often do you change you setup?

I only change what's required. My CPU and SSD have lasted me five years so far, and I see no reason to upgrade either of those JUST yet. The SSD can definitely stay, but the CPU might need a change within the next year or two, and my graphics card is about three years old now? No reason to upgrade that either just yet.

So I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I might define myself as an enthusiast, but I have other things to deal with, and I can't spend money on every new PC component that I see, nor would I anyway.

They probably have a need to update whenever they can as they rely on their studios for monetary gain.

I, for one, probably update my man cave once a season with something new.

I see all of these videos on YouTube of people who have a different gaming setup/layout that changes almost every year. I've basically had the same equipment (except for PC), desk and room layout for the last 6 years, am I doing something wrong?

Those people that you see on YouTube, are they doing it for a living? If yes then that will explain why they change their gaming setup / layout every year. To gain more views thus money...

If you are doing the same thing as them but not changing your setup / layout then yes you are doing something wrong.

I change mine whenever I find a way to make it better, so if I find something isn't quite to my liking I'll change it up.

My setup has been fairly stagnant for the past year or so, aside from a new chair, PC case and various laptops/tablets coming and going.

I know many of you are going to lol at this, but for my daily I use an almost 10 year old Sony Vaio (maxed out), never has let me down. For my desktop PC it is from 2011 and still running strong with a graphics card update. Personally, I do not see the point of upgrading every year. Computers cannot be leased like cars can, so upgrading every year is a negative in my book.

as often as I have extra money I can  comfully spend on it, so like once every 8-14 months, but i even mean small stuff like HDD, SSD, coolers.

id only upgrade my cpu or gpu once they die becase they will die before i cant play games on them, idc if i cant play games on ultra, med is fine even 30 fps doesn't bother me. but rn i can run everything on high or ultra

I only change something when it is needed or when it's annoying me. I changed my wired 360 controller by a wireless One controller because the wire was annoying me :P

changed my motherboard + CPU around '11 or '12 because improvements have been shit and ive never needed 16GB of RAM.

This year changed my PSU, case, & GPU that Iv had since '08. My PSU died and my 9800GTX was just too old. I only changed my case because my Antec 1200 had moved house so many times I lost a lot of parts for it.

Around '11 I had one 60GB SSD and two 230GB WD RE drives. I still have these drives but they are too small so I just upgraded storage size this year.

Iv still got my cooler master Z600. I dont know why they dont make them anymore.

Next year or end of this year ill prob get a new ryzen mobo & cpu and a larger 512gb ssd. Might get a ryzen APU if it gets good FPS on CSGO and rocket league.

I've essentially had the same "setup" for the past 7 years, with small things changing around, like a new controller and what not. 4 months ago I got a new desk but everything that went on top of it was still my same old crap soooooo yeah.

Most of y'all got the question wrong. It's about changing the environment, not the PC :P

Eh, whenever I feel like I need a change.

Since my room is pretty much one of 2 layouts, there's not much wiggle room in therms of what I can do to change things around.

Hopefully I'll have more space once I move to a new apartment this summer (although I dread looking for new places)
