it should work, try to get a better PSU.

So I have this 980 Ti that has 2 8 pin power plugs and I have it with an 8 and a 6 right now and it seems to be functioning normally. I wont damage the card doing this will I?

what PSU?

600W the recommended wattage, I was just making sure missing those 2 pins wouldn't damage anything even though it is working fine.

No damage is likely, but having it the way it was designed is better.

The two extra pins are grounds to help the 8-pin supply the 150W.

Ah I see that makes sense and that's what I though and I don't know why my PSU doesn't have the extra 2 pins with the other connector. It has it for the first PCIE power but it the second.

You want as much ground as required. The spec requires the two pins to be added for a reason. It helps to ensure the extra current is stable.
