Any.

Whatever you plug into them can't benefit from the extra sata 3.0 port speed since nothing can use the extra speed.

It doesn't matter which SATA port you use, as long as you set up the port to run in "AHCI" mode and NOT "IDE" mode.

I believe some motherboards have specific ports for hot-swap...but for everything else, yo just needa set yer ports duh AHCI.

Even if you don't plug it into a SATA 6Gb/s port it doesn't really matter.  Even if the device was rated for those speeds, Linus has demonstrated that most SSDs still can't saturate a SATA 3Gb/s port.

I would use SATA 0 and 1. But you could use the Marvell ports if you do run out: SATA 6,7, and 8. These are all SATA 6Gb/s ports use the others last because they are slower or use one of the SATA 3Gb/s for your optical drive.

Ok thanks for that. Just one last problem.... When the ports are stacked on top each other. How do I tell what their Port number is? I need to find this out so I can enable a certain port to be hot-swappable for my drive dock on my case.

You would have to refer to the manual because on the board I only see them categorizing between SATA 3 and SATA 2.

Did the fact that I forgot to mention that the board is rev. 1.1?

I think the difference between revision 1.1 and 1.0 is very minimal imo and shouldn't affect the sata port locations, it could be probably a newer bios update or maybe small improvements/new features.

Here's how to determine which port is which and how to make one hot-swappable:

1. Connect hot swap bay SATA cable to any mobo SATA port. It doesn't matter and you can change it later.

2. Insert drive to hot swap while PC is powered down. Boot to BIOS after that.

3. In BIOS check which port has drive you just put into hot swap bay. You can write down that number. If you aren't sure, power pc down and take drive off. Boot to BIOS and check which drives remain or which port is empty.

4. I don't remember excatly where to do it. But somewhere is option where you can set all SATA ports to hot swap mode separetly. Set your that port you just wrote down to act as hot swap and save settings. Now you can boot to windows and use hot swap bay without powering down.
