8gigs of DDR4 or 24gigs of DDR3?

So i am debating if i want to upgrade to DDR4, I can only afford 8gigs right now of DDR4 (3200Mhz), I currently have 24 gigs of DDR3 (1333mhz) So i am wondering will it be a performance upgrade Mhz wise if i downgrade my gigs, All i do is gaming is nothing else really.

You cannot use DDR4 RAM in a motherboard that uses DDR3 as the motherboard's slots wont accept it (and nor will the CPU's memory controller, probably).

Yes i know that, I already have a DDR4 motherboard, The question is just about the ram.

What are your full system specs? If you're going DDR4, get fast memory around the 3000-3200MHz range. Lower CAS is better but don't stress over it.

Why such a low GPU?

If you're using a Z-board, go for the faster RAM since you can use it.

I believe OP is planning to upgrade, he already posted a thread about doing so. 8Gb is enough for gaming, 16gb can be nice though if you want to do much multitasking.

Really?

@Doritojoe You'll be fine with 8GB of DDR4.

It really depends how much RAM you're currently using. If you're using over 8GB of that 24GB of RAM, wait until you can afford enough DDR4 to not be using it all up. If you end up needing more than 8GB of RAM but only have 8GB installed, you'll end up seeing massive drops in performance as the page file is used as an overflow.

What i will end up doing is getting the i5 putting 1 stick of DDR4 in it, And then if i am having RAM issues i will get another single 8gig stick later on.

Intel? Are you sure?

And if you have an issue get the same RAM as the single stick before

I have never used intel before in my life, So i want to try it out, But at this point i may just right both of the processors on a wheel and spin it to see what i get.

Are you using AM3 processor before? Yes intel is still great (so I have a feeling that you're an enthusiast with nitrogen cooler?)
