The surge protector is only there to protect against unwanted electrical spikes, usually cause by a thunderstorm.

So yes, you can use your pc if no there aren't any thunderclouds outside your window.

yea go for it.
they only thing you need to worry about it power loss.

if the power goes out, theres a brown out, or some kinda power surge (lightning strike), it MIGHT damage some components. but other than that you're totally fine.

or you'll get mad cow, could go either way honestly.

If you have a half decent PSU you should be protected from most electrical events.

OCP (Over Current Protection)
OVP (Over Voltage Protection)
OPP (Over Power Protection): overload protection, sometimes called OLP
OTP (Over Temperature Protection)
UVP (Under Voltage Protection)
SCP (Short Circuit Protection)
NLO (No Load Operation)

It might even sacrifice itself to save the rest of the components. So unless you have had electrical items fried in the past I would not worry at all unless as @Seabottom mention there is the chance of lightning

You can, but you shouldn't. Get a UPS.

If the power goes out and you switch to backup, it won't be an uninterrupted transition, and the little gap will cause your PC to shut off suddenly, and you can lose unsaved data or even damage components. A UPS is like always having a computer plugged into a battery bank that is always charging off the wall, so you'll never get the supply of power to the computer interrupted.

Only double-conversion UPSes work like that.

I know. My statement was only intended as a rudimentary explanation.

I'm sorry, but this must be the most noob question I've ever seen on forums. Its like asking if you can use iPhone without screen/case protector. Or the X-rated analogy.

Only worry is that if your house has really old wiring, connector high power draw machine could cause issues.
