How do I clone my 2.5" SSD to a m.2 SSD?

I have a MSI Z170 M5 motherboard with a Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD being used as the main drive. I am trying to replace it with a Samsung 960 EVO m.2 SSD. What is the easiest, fastest way to transfer everything to the m.2 so that I can use it as my main drive and give the 850 EVO to a friend. Specifically, can I just install the m.2 and work within my system to clone the drive and then take out the 2.5" drive without any problems? I running windows 10 home. Any tips or resources would help. Thanks.

My only suggestion would be if you have an activated copy of Windows 10, deactivate it before making the switch.

Good advice. Thank you.

So I can connect both drives to the motherboard at once and just use the samsung software?

Yes, just make sure not to pick the wrong drives.
