GTX 1060 6gb, same price as RX 580 8gb. But really their performances are basically the same, it just depends on the games you play which one is better

1060s are usually slightly more expensive, and also, the option OP had was the 3gb model.

580 by a long shot.

3GB VRAM is not enough, and the 580 is more powerful.

No, I'm looking on amazon and they are both around $240. You can pick up the single fan EVGA GTX 1060 6gb for $200 though

Well yeah definitely the RX 580 8gb over the 1060 3gb, but I'd try to get a 6gb 1060, because the 3gb also has less cuda cores

the 580 8GB is better than the 1060 6GB

What do you mean? And whats your advice?

Neither one of those card can play games at resolutions or settings that would use either 6gb or 8gb of VRAM, so don't let the memory effect your decision. Both cards are basically equally as fast, one is faster in one games, and one is faster in others. Look up benchmarks for the games you play and see which one preforms better and get that one. If you get a 1060 get a 1060 6gb though, because the 3gb ones are actually slower because they also have stripped down cuda cores

If it's between the 1060 6 GB or the 580 8 GB, it mostly comes to personal preferences: color, price, efficiency, adaptive sync support, etc. Keep in mind that the 580 performs better in most DX12 titles (though not by too much) and all Vulkan titles.

Regardless, you can't go wrong with either.

^^^^ This is basically what I said
